Celebrating our 1 year Anniversary

Saturday morning, I woke up to flowers and presents in bed. Tim ordered a beautiful arrangement of flowers from Sally's flowers on Camp Bowie. To keep with the tradition of giving paper on your first anniversary, Tim gave me 2 books by my favorite author, Sophie Kinsella.
For his presents, I gave him three things: Book about the history of Fort Worth, baby book, and a map of Scotland. Obviously each has a meaning: the Fort Worth book presents our current situation and where we are now, the baby book represents our future and our children, and the map is a dream that I hope we travel the world together....cheesy, but I loved it. Paper-great gift after only 365 days of committing your life to someone.
We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday night by going out to dinner at Grace, which is a new steak restaurant in downtown Fort Worth, right off of Main Street. The ambiance was wonderful and a perfect compliment to a lovely dinner for two. Tim ordered the restaurant week menu and I had a small filet Oscared. Everything was great and we really look forward to going back soon. Our evening continued with our stay at the new Omni Hotel which also was in downtown Fort Worth. We were welcomed into our cozy room with a bottle of champagne and great view of the city. We enjoyed the free drinks before we headed down to the hotel bar where a live country band was playing. We ended the night by sitting outside and enjoying the weather.
Sunday, on our actual anniversary, we went to dinner with a few friends at Ocean Rock and finished dessert at our house. Our dessert was the top of our wedding cake made by Fancy Cakes by Lauren; she made a new one because our original one melted when our electricity went out this summer.
Fun facts about my presents from Tim: Flowers from Sally's (cat's name), book by Sophie Kinsella (Cocker Spaniel's name) and ate at Grace (2nd dog's name)...funny right. Then to top it off, our room number was 823, which is our anniversary date. :)
Overall, great weekend to a great marriage.

The Time Traveler's Wife

We had a mini date night tonight on a Tuesday. Tim agreed to see the Time Traveler's Wife with me and overall was a lovely movie. I completely cried my eyes out the whole time.

Three years ago, I was in a book club in Fort Worth and this was our first read. I thought it sounded like a weird book, but ended up being incredible. I highly recommend it to anyone.

The movie did a good job too getting the main idea of the story, but changed up the end just a bit. I still think it was well done and definitely worth seeing.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brown (8-01-08)

I think I'm in 8th grade again...

After a really great weekend of celebrating the marriage of Paul and Elizabeth, I came home to a house wrapped with toilet paper and diapers. It was funny when I was driving down the street because I could see toilet paper high in the trees and giggled for the poor person who had to clean it up...a little bit closer to the house, I realized I was that poor person.

Oh the little joys in life that make you laugh. I admit that I am uptight and tend to not have the best sense of humor when it comes to things, but it was funny. Still not quite sure why they purchased 37 diapers to disperse all over our lawn and roof because I am not pregnant. Maybe it was a sign from God to tell me that I am...

I guess everything happens for a reason. As we were cleaning up the millions of rolls of toilet paper in the yard, we met two sets of neighbors and bonded over the fact that the people who rolled our house were very talented and definitely had an arm on them. There are still about 10 rolls of paper that are impossible to get out and will have to stay there until the next big wind storm.

So in conclusion to this funny escapade...fess up people. I want to personally thank you for the work that you did on my house.

Slowly, but surely...

Tim and I are slowly starting to decorate the house and making it our home. We are almost done with painting our bedroom blue and hopefully will have all the furniture in by this week. Next week, we are going to start painting the living/dining room a butter cream and ripping down the wallpaper in both bathrooms. After these 4 rooms are complete, I will feel pretty good about the house. The kitchen is going to be a work in process though. I know what I want it to look like, but the hard part will be balancing wants and actual costs. We are definitely going to have to learn how to be handy and save money.

This coming weekend is Tim's sister's wedding in McKinney. Details of the wedding are at: www.paulandliz2009.com. I think they are planning to have around 300 people, so should be good size. :)

Happy Sunday!
